Ewe are invited to Lamb’s Down Park Festival

The Carleton Place Business Improvement Association (BIA) isn’t sheepish about letting people know that Carleton Place is the largest distribution centre for lamb’s wool in Canada.

In fact, the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited, located at 142 Franktown Road, grades and markets close to three million pounds of raw wool each year.

In celebration of the town’s woolly existence, the BIA and the Wool Growers are joining forces on Saturday, June 12 to host the Lamb’s Down Park Festival.

The Carleton Place BIA prepares for 5^th Annual Bridge St. Bazaar

The Carleton Place Business Improvement Association (BIA) invites locals and out-of-towners to visit downtown Carleton Place on Saturday, July 31st to enjoy a summer community extravaganza. Organizers of the 5^th Annual Bridge Street Bazaar hope to showcase the center of this colourful and historical town through a sidewalk shop with over a hundred vendors. From 9a.m. to 4p.m., visitors can Meet Us “downtown” On The Mississippi and have the opportunity to find bargain deals, become a street merchant themselves, and eat at waterfront pubs and restaurants, all while basking in non-stop local entertainment.

Fatboy's is a new deli-style sandwich shop that is owned and operated by Kevin and Dana Laviolette. The husband and wife team, along with their children, are following their dreams of becoming small business owners. Kevin and Dana both grew up in a small town, so they love and appreciate the sense of community and togetherness that a town like Carleton Place offers both their family and family business.  

 

Volunteer Opportunities for the Carleton Place BIA in summer 2010.

The Carleton Place BIA is a community organization that represents small businesses within a designated area in the downtown.  This includes all businesses from High Street to Coleman Street, and also includes businesses located on Lansdowne Avenue.  Many large community events are coordinated out of the BIA office, these events are important to our entire community and your volunteer efforts are appreciated.  The list below outlines three BIA events scheduled for June and July that require volunteer support.  If you are interested in volunteer for all or part of these events please contact Cathie McOrmond at 613-257-8049 or cmcormond@carletonplace.ca .
