The Carleton Place Business Improvement Association (BIA) isn’t sheepish about letting people know that Carleton Place is the largest distribution centre for lamb’s wool in Canada.
In fact, the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited, located at 142 Franktown Road, grades and markets close to three million pounds of raw wool each year.
In celebration of the town’s woolly existence, the BIA and the Wool Growers are joining forces on Saturday, June 12 to host the Lamb’s Down Park Festival.

Organizers of the 5th Annual Bridge Street Bazaar hope to showcase the center of this colourful and historical town through a sidewalk shop with over a hundred vendors. The Carleton Place BIA is a community organization that represents small businesses within a designated area in the downtown. This includes all businesses from High Street to Coleman Street, and also includes businesses located on Lansdowne Avenue. Many large community events are coordinated out of the BIA office, these events are important to our entire community and your volunteer efforts are appreciated.
